Got a wild hair one day and started searching the internet for anything Atlanta Pop Festival and came across the photo on this page. The page being Phillip Rauls photo essay “The Atlanta Pop Festival’s 40th Anniversary”. The photo is of a van in the Atlanta Speedway and to my amazement I’m the guy sitting on top of the van with my leg stretched out on the side van door. There were 6 members of a band from Cajun country in South Louisiana that drove that rattle trap van all the way to Georgia to attend the festival. It’s a crazy story of how we got there and got the van inside the raceway. That wasn’t the end of my trip. I met some hippies from Florida and ended up several weeks later at Woodstock. “What long strange trip it’s been.”
